The government has announced "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" which marks the 75th anniversary on Independence Day includes the Her Ghar Tiranga Campaign.  The central government has set a target of availability of 27 crore tricolor flags for hoisting in every house.

What is Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign?

Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign: The central government has started 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign to motivate the citizens of the country to hoist the national flag at their homes between August 13 and 15 and in 25 crore homes across the country. The goal is to hoist the tricolor. For this, the Central Government Ministry of Culture has contacted all the states and business organizations for participation in the tricolor campaign.

For this, the central government has also made changes in the rules for hoisting the tricolor. The central government has set a target of availability of 27 crore tricolors for hoisting the tricolor in every house. The government has organized traders' union, the Federation of All India Traders, the leading organization of traders, has asked the flag manufacturers to increase production to meet the increasing demand, as well as strictly follow the provisions of the National Flag Code. do it.

Objective of Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan:

The Government of India has launched the "Har GharTiranga Campaign" as a part of "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" initiative to encourage people of India to bring home the Tricolor Flag and hoist it to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence.

People's interaction with their country’s flag have always been formal and exclusively institutional. This campaign aims to make nation-building more of a personal experience for the citizen while enhancing the significance of citizen commitment.

Under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, from the 13th to the 15th of August, a special movement – ​​'Har Ghar Tiranga' is being organised.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal is that on this Independence Day, every Indian house should be included in the tricolor. It will be a proud moment for our country. After this the option of download or print certificate will come.

What is the purpose of this campaign?

This campaign has been started this year to commemorate 75 years of independence. This campaign will work to create a sense of patriotism in the hearts of citizens of India as well as increase awareness about the national flag. The main objective of this campaign is to encourage more and more every Indian to hoist the tricolor in their home.

What are the rules related to the national flag? 

There are some rules related to the hoisting of the national flag in our country. It is also important to be aware of all these rules. If the tricolor is not hoisted according to these rules, then strict action can be taken against you. For this, the Flag Code 2002 has been prepared by the Government of India. It gives the guidelines related to the use, exhibition and hoisting of the national flag. It was implemented on 26 January 2002.

Be sure to keep these major points in mind while hoisting the flag:

• The flag shall not be used for commercial purposes.
• The flag shall not be lowered to salute any person or thing.
• The flag shall not be used as a uniform or dress. 
• The flag cannot be printed on handkerchiefs, pillows or any other dress.
• The flag shall not be used to cover a building.
• No advertisement/notification/record should be written on the flag.
• The flag shall not be used to cover the roof of a vehicle, train, boat, aircraft, etc.
• No other flag should be flown at the same height or above the Indian flag.

Upload Your Selfie with Flag:

• Go to the official website of Har Ghar Tiranga.
• Click on UPLOAD SELFIE WITH FLAG button.
• A Pop-Up window will open.
• Now Enter your name and click on Browse Files.
• Select your Selfie and click on Submit option.

Changes in the rules of flag hoisting

In a letter to the secretaries of all central ministries and departments, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said that the display, hoisting and use of the Indian National Flag comes under the Flag Code of India, 2002 and the Prevention of Insults to National Pride Act, 1971. . According to the letter, the Flag Code of India, 2002 has been amended vide an Order dated 20th July, 2022 and now clause (11) of Para 2.2 of Part II of the Flag Code of India, 2002 shall now read as, ' Where the flag is displayed in the open or displayed at a citizen's home, it may be flown day and night. The central government has made changes in the rules related to hoisting the flag. 

What are the Old Rules of Hoisting the Flag?

According to the old rules, the flag could be hoisted after the sunrise and before the sunset, but according to the new rule, now the tricolor can be hoisted even at night. But the Government of India has amended the rules of Flag of Code of India. Hoisting, displaying or using the flag in the country comes under the Flag Code of India 2002 and the Prevention of Insults to National Pride Act, 1971. The Government of India has changed this law on 20 July. Since then we have got the freedom to hoist the tricolor even at night.
