a. Why did the lion believe that it was being attacked?

Answer: The lion heard the echo of its own voice and felt it was being attacked.

Answer: The lion heard the echo of his own roar.

c. Why did the echo say, 'Mine, mine......!?

Answer: An echo appears to repeat the last words. The lion said, 'What voice is that roars like mine?' and the echo said, 'Mine, mine...'

d. Why did the lion say that the jungle belonged to him? 

Answer: The lion said the jungle belonged to him, because he was the king of the jungle.

e. Who did the lion think the echo was?

Answer: The lion thought the echo was someone who had entered the jungle without an invitation or permission to do so.

f. Why did the lion call the echo a coward?

Answer: The lion thought the echo was a coward as it appeared to be hiding.

g. Why did the lion think the echo was hiding something?

Answer: The lion thought that the echo was hiding something as it did not want to show itself.

h. Why did the lion think that the echo was afraid of being defeated by someone that was very strong?

Answer: The lion thought that the echo was afraid it would have to fight a stronger opponent and lose the battle, so it kept hiding and was not ready to face him.

i. Why was the lion exhausted?

Answer: The lion was exhausted, because it was suddenly afraid of what creature was challenging it. Every sound frightened the lion and soon it was very tired.

j. Who was observing all that was taking place and what did it say?

Answer: A bird in a tree observed all that was taking place and said that it was simply the voice of his lion sized fear that terrified the lion.

Answer: A lion-sized fears means Frightened by every conceivable sound. The Lion was disturbed by another Lion's voice but was only an Echo of himself.

b. What was the lion actually afraid of?

Answer: The lion was actually afraid of it's own voice.
